Fly the Internet-Friendly Skies

Entrepreneur Daily:
Good news for small-biz owners on the go.
American Airlines announced it’s teaming up with AirCell to offer internet access on domestic flights. According to AirCell, the service will go through a trial run starting in 2008 on American’s 767-200 aircraft.
Airlines have been clamoring to offer in-flight internet access to passengers for years, mainly to attract more business travelers.
But in the past, the service has been too costly for airlines to consider. AirCell says its system is cheaper than that of Boeing’s original satellite-based service, costing about $100,000 per plane to install the necessary equipment. Passengers who want to access the web 30,000 feet in the sky can expect a $10 fee per flight.
The next airline to watch for: Southwest Airlines says it hopes to draw more business travelers with a similar service in the near future.
